Legend has it that Kuldhara was first occupied by the community called “Paliwal Brahmins” and were harassed by the local Samant or the local ruler. It was terrifying for the village folks to bear heavy duty taxes and it became even more terrifying when the samanth laid his lustrous eyes on the girls of Paliwal Brahmins. This terrified them and the entire community abandoned the village in the dark of the night and some are them are believed to have embraced death as their last resort!
